Cheboards Industries produces its renowned brands Cheboards and Evangelista; and it is also an authorized official factory for Lightning Bolt in Costa Rica, producing its own models and the iconic ones. Inside the premises, its expertly trained staff produces between 600 and 900 boards per year, for both local and international clients, as well as glass jobs for small and big brands. Juan Diego Evangelista (J.D.) has been involved in surfing most of his life. He started surfing at 7, shaped his first board at 11 in Mar del Plata, and at 16, he began to work in different surf factories. Since then, he has caught innumerable waves, and shaped over 15.000 boards in Costa Rica, Brazil, Chile and the United States among others. In 2006, in Tenerife (Spain), Cheboards opened its first factory and JD’s dreams came true. Six years later, he and his wife Mareike decided to move to Tamarindo (Costa Rica) and opened their current factory. The main aim is to improve the surfboard market and make it more sustainable. This is why, in the last few years, Cheboards has incorporated the construction of balsa wood boards cultivated in Costa Rica and the use of organic resin and fiber from different parts of the world. Inside the innovation area, hydrofoiling has been the new passion of Juan Diego, who seeks to master it everyday in its use and design. Whoever comes to the factory willing to surf will never go out with empty hands. The number one priority in Cheboards is the quality and service. “We want to make the best surfboard of your life.”
